The Conservation Jumpstart Fellowship

Jumpstart your conservation career with Kit’s guidance and resources. The Conservation Jumpstart Fellowship allows passionate youth to explore a career in conservation. Over 12 weeks or so, fellows will develop an impactful project while planning their environmental career.
The Kit Ambassador Program

Kit’s fellowship alumni have the unique opportunity to become Kit Ambassadors. In the program, they’ll have the chance to continue creating conservation projects (known as “Kit Originals”), help current fellows, lead events, and more.

Conservation Jumpstart
Fellowship
Jumpstart you career in conservation through a project of your making in a fellowship crafted especially for the most passionate youth.
Who should apply?
You are between 14 and 22 years of age when you submit your application.
You are optimistic about the future of our planet and believe that your action can bring great change.
You are explorative, always looking for new, innovative ways to do things and the opportunity to learn.
You are passionate about conservation and fighting for the protection and preservation of our planet and its life.
You are fluent in English.
You are available up to the next 16 weeks of the next start date for approximately 1-5 hours per week (varies by project).

Fellowship Breakdown
Next start date: August 3rd

We’ve created three different concentrations for you choose from once you are accepted as a fellow. These include environmental action, environmental policy, and environmental education/awareness. You don’t have to be 100% sure on your concentration when you apply—your project advisor will help you pick one that makes sense for your interests.

Once you have talked through your ideas and selected a concentration with your project advisor, you’ll create a project proposal. After it’s been approved, you’ll start your project! Whether you’re planting native trees, or saving local bees, we’re sure the next 10 or so weeks will be exciting!

This fellowship is not just a one-and-done project. The Kit team has designed the program to be a building block towards your career in conservation and your continued work to save our planet. Throughout the fellowship, you’ll have the opportunity to relate your work to a sustainable career, start building your network in the conservation space, and look for opportunities to propel your progress!
We don’t hand out certificates. We guide you in creating a professional portfolio and personal website and we connect you with people doing what you aspire to do.

After your graduate from Kit’s Jumpstart Conservation Fellowship, you’ll have the opportunity to apply to our Kit Ambassador program. Upon your acceptance, you’ll be given the opportunity to build more projects, help incoming fellows, and more.
You don’t have to be am ambassador to get all the perks though. All alumni will welcomed to our community group chats and events for continued networking and opportunities!

No. You should be between the ages of 14-22 and be in alignment with Kit’s values. These are the primary things we look for in applicants.

The number of fellows accepted is completely dependent on the resources available to us when you apply. Our goal is to work with a many youth as possible who show clear passion for conservation and are in alignment with our values of optimism, exploration, and passion.

You’ll be given the opportunity to upload material you believe best support your application. Uploading a resume or similar material is not required, and not doing so will not hurt your application.
We do not ask for references at this time.
